Dear Scholars, Parents, Faculty, and Staff:

Welcome back! I hope you all had a fine vacation and are looking forward with enthusiasm to the new school year. We are so excited to be in our new home located at 220 W. 108th Street! Our goal is to provide all scholars with the opportunity to express themselves in academics, athletics, and fine arts so that they may become positive, contributing members of our school and community.

To jump-start the academic year, you are cordially invited to attend West Prep Academy’s Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 4:30-7:30 pm. In addition to touring our new spaces, we will share information on the curriculum, as well as new and exciting events happening at West Prep this year. Teachers will briefly explain the content of each course and will tell you the requirements and expectations of students. 6th-grade families will learn about being successful in middle school. 7th-grade families will learn about getting ready for the high school admissions processes. 8th-grade families will receive information about applying to high schools and specialized high school exams. Light refreshments will be served beginning at 4:30 in the cafeteria.

Every year we invite our parents —indeed, urge them— to join the Parents Association and to volunteer at the school. There are many tasks that volunteers can perform. If you are interested in helping out, please call (212) 280-8502 to speak with our Parent Coordinator, Janice Minott. Signups and elections for the Parents Association and School Leadership Teams will be held during Back to School Night at 5:30 pm in the multi-purpose room. Remember our vision at West Prep is “With the work of all, we build a capable, caring, and inspired learning community.” Your participation in your scholar’s education, both at home and school, is vital to their success and the overall success of the school. Estimados estudiantes, padres y profesores:

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo! Espero que todos hayan tenido unas buenas vacaciones y estén esperando con entusiasmo el nuevo año escolar. ¡Estamos muy emocionados de estar en nuestro nuevo hogar ubicado en el 220 de la calle W 108! Nuestro objetivo es brindarles a todos los estudiantes la oportunidad de expresarse en lo académico, el atletismo y los artes finos para que puedan convertirse en miembros positivos y contribuyentes de nuestra escuela y comunidad.

Para comenzar el año académico, están invitados a asistir a la Noche de Regreso a Clases de West Prep Academy el jueves 19 de septiembre de 2024 de 4:30 a 7:30 p. m. Además de recorrer nuestros nuevos espacios, compartiremos información sobre el plan de estudios, así como eventos nuevos y emocionantes que se darán a cabo en West Prep este año. Los profesores explicarán brevemente el contenido de cada curso y le informarán sus requisitos y expectativas de los estudiantes. Las familias de sexto grado aprenderán cómo tener éxito en la escuela intermedia. Las familias de 7mo grado aprenderán cómo prepararse para los procesos de admisión a la escuela secundaria. Las familias de octavo grado recibirán información sobre cómo inscribirse a las escuelas secundarias y exámenes especializados de la escuela secundaria. Se servirá merienda ligera a partir de las 4:30 en la cafetería.

Cada año invitamos —le urgimos— a nuestros padres a unirse a la Asociación de Padres y a ser voluntarios en la escuela. Hay muchas cosas que los voluntarios pueden realizar.
